The Final Stretch. Spinzilla Day Seven

Today I sat down at my wheel at 6:00 p.m. and SPUN! I took about an hour off near 8:00 for dinner, because Sunday dinner with family is more important than a few extra yards. But, after that I spun till 12:01 a.m. Monday morning which was the official end to Spinzilla. And... I made it! I managed to spin 626 yards! I made it over four miles! I have had a wonderful week, and I am very much looking forward to participating in Spinzilla next year!

My Wheel is Smoking! Spinzilla Day Six

Yesterday my big brother bet me that if I could spin a mile by the time he got off from work he would buy me some hot wings! So, today I brought my wheel downstairs and started spinning! My other brother and I watched some old NCIS episodes on our big television. ( A real treat because previously I had just been watching on my 7" tablet.) One time when my mom checked in on us she said I was spinning so fast that she could almost see smoke coming off my wheel! The clock was ticking, I even skipped dinner so I could spin! And, with 20 minutes to spare... I did it! I set a new personal record of spinning a mile in one day! Hot wings have never tasted so good. :-)
When I crunched the numbers I discovered that I have only 434 yards left to reach four miles! Eeek! I have a busy day planned for tomorrow, and I will be away from my wheel all day... but if I stay up and spin till midnight then I might be able to make it!

Keep going! Spinzilla Day Five

Today was.. interesting.I pulled a muscle in my right leg so using it to spin was very uncomfortable. So, today I tried spinning with just my left foot, and I spun a total of 1,104 yards.  Not too shabby! Also, my big brother made a bet with me, if I can spin a mile in one day tomorrow he will buy me some hot wings! It is sooo on! Now, off to bed so I can get up at 4:00 a.m. to start spinning! :-D

New Record! Spinzilla Day Four

Today was amazing! I set a new personal  record for yardage today. Today I spun 1,626 yards! With that and all of the yarn I spun earlier this week, I have reached my goal of spinning two miles! Now I want to see just how far I can go!

I have done it! I have successfully reached my goal of spinning a mile! And I did it in only three days! Because I reached my goal so quickly, I have decided to make a new goal. My new goal is to spin TWO miles for Spinzilla! I am so exited to see if I can do it! So, without further ado, back to spin- (notices the late hour) umm I mean sleeping.

Spinzilla Day Two

Today I had all day set aside to spin. No chores to do, no homework, nada. I started the day by trying some roving that I bought a while ago, and it turned out that it made great fine lace. So, I made lace, and lace, and lace. It takes forever to fill up a spool with lace! At about 11:00 p.m. I decided I would finish this yarn before I go to bed, plying and all, and I did! I will measure the yarn after a good nights rest, but it is safe to say that it is a lot!

GO! Spinzilla Day One

The fun began at 12:01 A.M on the dot!

Today was amazing! I had so much fun spinning, and I am a part of the most amazing team! Today I spun 510 yards of yarn. That is over 1/4 of my total goal for the week! I could just go on and on about how cool this is, but I need to get some sleep so I can start spinning again in the morning!

Get Ready, Get Set, ... Wait an Hour and a Half.

Spinzilla is almost here! The wheels are oiled, the bobbins are emptied, and the fiber is prepared. Now, all that is left to do is wait.... and wait. I will be honest and say that this is all I have been thinking about all day. Who knew 24 hours was so long! Spinzilla starts at 12:01 Monday morning in whatever timezone you are in, and I will be staying up to start at 12:01 on the dot! I have ooodles of prepared fiber, a spinning wheel maintenance kit, and a dear friend (who just happens to have 20+ years spinning experience) on speed dial. I think I am ready for everything! :-)

The goal is to spin one mile of yarn. It is now one hour till Spinzilla starts... wish me luck!

Spinzilla

I hope you all had a great Labor Day! I most certainly did. During Labor Day weekend I saw an add on Ravelry for "Spinzilla", and I decided to check it out. Turns out Spinzilla is a global spinning challenge to see who can spin the most yarn in one week. Count me in! :-)
I can hardly wait to get spinning, however I am  having so much fun preparing my fleece that it is almost like Spinzilla has already started!
