Alpaca adventure (January, 21, 2015)

Beautiful natural alpaca roving.
Today started yet again with some driving. This time it was to go se my weaving mentor to get some alpaca roving. I am in love!  This is high quality alpaca, and it spins like a dream. It is a bit more slippery than wool, but it is oh so soft! I noticed that the singles are  so strong that I can't break them, which means they will make some great warp yarn for future projects. I am currently spinning bulky yarn, and I had a bit of a bumpy start because I normally spin lace. However after a few attempts I have finally slipped into a good rhythm.
Left: Example yarn from a friend. Right: My handspun.
